I was thinking about making the larger galleries into subpages, that way the pages would get less bloated and I'd be also able to expand them with in-game sprites.
On another note, you might have noticed the new nice footer on the main page. Since the old footers program was officially retired I took over the old shmup footer and added the more up-to-date wikis to it.
Very nicely done. Yeah, the old footer program didn't really have any of the shmup series wikis best interests in mind. Shmup wiki's really do work better together than throwing them in with "sports?" and other random video games. The people running that program are normies that don't care about genres that are not based on online shooter game stuff. They think we should "Get with the time" and buy Fortnite and whatever else new era big companies are promoting.
I'm wanting to do the levels, but I'll need to you to look over names of enemies and if you can add input on the naming of those articles it would make things feel less overwhelming. I don't want to do half the zones to Darius II, then turn around and change a enemies name. Once four zones or so are covered, there won't be all that many new enemies to add making the process less taxing.
I wish the manuals for Darius II and Gaiden had enemy names, but alas it's not always that I have such luck. I believe most of them are the same from the first game though, so that facilitates things a bit. I'll see if can get most enemy pages done, at least for the first game. I'm also talking with the guys on the Discord channel to see if I can get sone help with deplagiarizing our articles.
Tar-Palantir had given permission to use "HUGE DARIUS BATTLESHIPS|HUGE DARIUS BATTLESHIPS" website to develop the wiki. For awhile we were it as far as were to find what was his website. He had granted permission.
User:Tar-Palantir was involved with the wiki. It's been a good 10 year now, but had granted permission at the time. If you want to re-write it to improve what is there, good. But as far as plagiarizing, it was used cause the project was the replacement for the website.
The wiki's I looked at you didn't use were sorta failed startups or subjects that didn't have enough content to work from the make a stand alone wiki.
"Cave Co." is about the only wiki idea there that could/should be a wiki.
Anyways, "Huge Darius Battleships" website was offered, and it was a good place to start. Moving forward can include updating and rewriting. But for me, I'm find with most of it. I just don't want to see content lost. That is where my line in the sand is. If you can't rewrite it, leave it be. The Wiki was granted permission. That means we can, if we want. I think in some ways doing the zones in the games might by default cause much of the data to update and change anyways.
If you want me to start from Darius (first game) in the arcade, I can switch it up and do that game first. I need a week to play through it a few times and start a collection of screencaps to work from, but I am okay with that. I am mostly wanting help dealing with names and such. I rather it be official names over something the wiki came up with. I know many things just don't have official names but trying to get official names or names as close to the design as possible matters to me.
So if Okay, I can move to doing Darius Zone A. Among other things I'll replace my previous images there with better scaling images.
Don't worry, I won't remove the current descriptions unless I change them.
I'll see if I can at least start the articles for the enemies, that should help when you start making the pages for the stages.
All the ideas I put there are ones I feel have enough content to justify a dedicated wiki. I'm currently working on the Star Soldier wiki, and I plan on adopting the Aleste one. Once I have more time I may create a wiki for Fantasy Zone (I'm actually surprised it doesn't have one yet).
I started all articles for the enemies from the first game and added the list to the Darius page, so you can refer to them when making the pages for the stages. As far as I could see the majority of enemies from the second game are recycled from the first, though quite a few are original.
I really don't like it. The colors and it floating. It's very distracting. Also, where did the images of the actual maps go? I get it that you want to make things better or at least more pretty, but it is hard to look at. Also, whats up with the discord thing to the side? What is it for?
Surely. I made the individual cells as a separate template, to make it easier to fill in the data and not bloat the articles. My idea was for the table to reflect the stage map and give a better idea as to which stage leads to which, without having to look back and forth at the images.
The Discord thing is a widget that links to a Discord server for real time chat. I linked it to a Taito themed server.
The "• Other Shoot 'em Up Wikis •" section needs a second line of wikis (Such as Touhou Wiki, Galaga Wiki, Xevious Wiki, Strikers 1945 Wiki, Xeno Fighters EX-R), but I think is a easy clean replacement footer you have there.
