Crested Bigscale (Japanese: カブトウオ, Hepburn: Kabutouo?) is the captain of the third tier stages from Darius Gaiden. It is based of a Crested Bigscale (Poromitra crassiceps).

This captain is likely the hardest in the game to capture. When it shows up, it will move up and down attempting to stay on the same horizontal level with the player, then stop to shoot lasers from it's head turret and semi-homing fireballs from it's mouth. A good strategy to capture it is to lure it to stay on the bottom of the screen, and then move quickly above it's head when it starts shooting, hitting it's capture ball with bombs. Be careful, as it is very easy to screw up and end destroying it before being able to capture it.
